the Deadly Spawn: A case study of hobbies before the internet

So tonight I am watching The Deadly Spawn, with D and I suddenly begin to think about what people occupied their time with before the internet. What sparked this thought was a scene in the movie where this 16 year old is in his room. The era is of the early eighties, and the kid has all these space, and planetary paraphernalia all over. I think, "Why the hell does this kid have such a fixation with the universe?" Then it clicks, people didn't have the information accessible to them pre internet so hobbies were focused in on more narrowly. You collect your little analouge trinkets and post them on the walls. Posters, models, books were all are fair game. You develop this desire to learn more, and as a result your search extends. Then in the 1990's the internet blossoms and your days are no longer filled with solar system models and pictures; you now look at porn.

World of Goo- The Crack of video games

So I read that Wii Wares World of Goo is on of the best games since Mario Galaxy. I feel this statement is justified. The game is simply addictive. You work to manipulate small bits of "goo" to solve puzzles. Highly recommended!

    Wii Games to Love

So, since my last posting of orbital and cubello I decided to rent "De Blob." The game is a visual masterpiece. You play a blob that rolls around in a monochromatic cityscape. The color has been drained by the ominous Inkt Corporation. You splash through different colors to mix, match and splatter objects in color thus completing objectives. The soundtrack is very well composed ranging from a lounge feel to a intense rock out bonanza.

    Electronic Football

This has to be one of the greatest scams in toy history. A maganetic board buzzes and a bunch of chess like football monochromatic clones fall and move at random. The players the interpret the results. What a rip!
